CHILDREN AND SCHOOLS

From the beginning, Clos Archaeological Foundation wanted to make Egypt and Archaeology in general more approachable for its visitor. With this aim in mind, and particularly thinking of its youngest public, the Foundation created a series of educative programmes to promote the study of this Ancient Civilisation. In doing so, it always endeavoured to make the above mentioned programmes as ludic as possible.

The Egyptian Museum of Barcelona offers, for example, workshops for children and teenagers, who during the summer holidays can learn more about the world of the Pharaohs. Also, at weekends, there are children’s workshops that are linked to temporary exhibitions or pedagogic school programmes. The latter allow students of all ages to study closely real archaeological objects and, therefore, to understand better Egyptian society in the times that Pharaohs ruled, their culture and many key aspects of Ancient Egypt. Furthermore, in the shop of the Museum, one can find many didactic items: books, puzzles, hieroglyphic games, gadgets, etc. All of them are an excellent complement for the youngest to continue learning about Egypt in their spare time.

The Archaeological Campus is a place where students of all ages can carry out hands on archaeological activities. They can get involved in different projects that allow them to work in teams but also to make personal, individual efforts. Each student is the protagonist in the process of discovery inherent in all excavations.

Our Campus is prepared well prepared to received students and offers them training with an educational content that complements subjects covered by social sciences’ programmes. There are activities suitable for all, both in terms of age and previous knowledge. It is and ideal place to visit with friends or family during the weekend; ideal to learn more about the different techniques used in Archaeology at excavations sites and in the laboratories. The excavation sites of the Campus are recreations at real scale of Egyptian sites and the work done there is followed by further investigation.
