Ptah-Sokar-Osiris
Late Period (715–332 BC)
Plastered and painted wood
Height: 78 cm
Inv.: MEB E-206
These figures are one of the characteristic objects found among the funerary equipment in tombs from the Late Period. They represent a syncretic deity that combines the functions of Osiris, god of the dead, and the Memphite gods Ptah and Sokar. The back or base had cavities used to hold a fragment of papyrus or a mummy made of clay and cereals, whose purpose was to promote the resurrection of the deceased.
