The ram is one of the animals associated with the god Amun, and the heads of these animals are frequently used in different types of jewellery worn by the so-called ‘black pharaohs’. Gold, mined in Nubia, and turquoise, from the mines of Sinai, were raw materials used in the manufacture of high-quality jewellery.
