New Kingdom, 19th dynasty, reign of Ramses III (1194-1163 BC)
Granite
Height: 49 cm
Inv.: MEB E-695
Ramses III is considered the last great pharaoh from the New Kingdom. During the first part of his reign, he carried out victorious military campaigns against Libyans and the Sea Peoples. Afterwards, the intern situation of Egypt kept deteriorating as shown by the riot in which the workers from Deir el-Medina were involved and the famous Harem Conspiracy, which ended with the life of the pharaoh. In this beautiful statue, Ramses III holds a divine standard that could have been completed with the ram Amon. The hieroglyphics show different names of the kings.
