The sistrum, a musical instrument dedicated to the cow goddess Hathor, appeased her wrath, preventing her from turning into the ferocious lioness Sekhmet. Music was present in all areas of life, related to feelings of love, as simple entertainment, or linked to worship in temples; its divine origin pleased the gods.
