Stele of Khuenptah and Meritites

Old Kingdom, 6th Dynasty (2323-2150 BC)
Limestone
Height: 72.5 cm
Inv.: MEB E-1111

Despite the tradition that presents Cheops as the paradigm of despotism and tyranny, more than two centuries after his reign, the cult of his memory was still active, as demonstrated by figures such as the lady Meritites, supervisor of a temple linked to the preservation of the memory of Cheops, and owner of this stele, together with her son Khuenptah.
