Sekhmet represented the destructive energy of the god Ra, her father. Goddess of war, responsible for diseases and epidemics, to appease her, the ‘Feast of Drunkenness’ was celebrated in her honour, in which Sekhmet was transformed into the goddesses Hathor or Bastet, who were more peaceful in nature.
